Home’s Cafe

Update: This business has ceased its operations.

The moment when OldTown White Coffee pioneered the upscale kopitiam concept, it was just a matter of time before other copycats jumped onto the back-wagon.

Home’s Cafe is one such example. Its outlet is located at D’Piazza Mall, next to Pao Xiang Bak Kut Teh. Since D’Piazza is essentially a ghost mall, it makes sense that the entrance faces outdoors.

There are just two of us during lunch today, so we decided to order a dish each and something else to share.

I selected the Nasi Lemak With Curry Chicken (RM6.30), while my lunchmate took the Nasi Lemak With Fried Chicken (RM6.30). In both cases, we were very disappointed when being served. Each of we got a pathetically small piece of chicken on the plate. For this price, we should easily deserve twice the amount of chicken elsewhere! As for the taste, the dishes were still reasonable. But I would not recommend them to anyone if the price is taken into consideration.

In addition, we also ordered a serving of Cheese Toast With Onion (RM6.30). Again, I think this is way too expensive for a small slice of bread with some cheddar cheese and onion toppings.

For drinks, we ordered glasses of cold Home’s Cafe White Coffee (RM3.00) and Home’s Cafe Hazelnut White Coffee (RM3.80). I have to admit that the coffees are reasonably good. But if this is the only reason to visit the restaurant, you might as well just buy their 3-in-1 coffee sachets at any grocery store and enjoy one at the comfort of your own home.
