Besides the main restaurant at Paya Terubong, Sin Nam Huat Roasted Chicken & Duck Rice (新南发烧腊鸡鸭饭店) has several branches throughout Penang. For today’s lunch, I am dining at the Macalister Road (Jalan Macalister) outlet. The shop is across the road from Loh Guan Lye Specialist Centre.

I ordered a serving of Chicken Mix (鸡参, RM5.40), which comprises of roasted chicken (烤鸡), roasted pork (烧肉) and BBQ pork (叉烧). The meal comes with rice and soup. There is also a saucer of chili sauce as condiment.

Roasted chicken is supposed to be the restaurant’s bestseller, but it is disappointingly bland and tough. On the flip side, roasted pork and BBQ pork are more acceptable to my palate. Meanwhile, the food pricing here is reasonably affordable.
