Tapas belong to a unique style of Spanish dining where food is served in small portions. This dining concept revolves around light snacks and appetizers that are not meant to fill the stomach in a single serving. Instead, food is ingested in small amounts to complement alcoholic beverages. Besides tapas, Patio’s menu also includes soup, salad, main dishes and specialties.
An example of a tapas dish is Albóndigas Con Salsa De Tomate Maduro Picante (Pork Meat Balls With Spicy Ripened Tomato Sauce, RM18.00). The bowl contains 5 springy pieces of albóndigas (meatballs) served in freshly-made tomato sauce. Nicely seasoned with herbs, the meatballs have extremely satisfying appeal.
As for something more filling, try the Pollo Relleno Con Aceitunas Negras Y Tomate Con Queso Mozzarella Gratinado (Black Olive And Tomato Stuffed Chicken Gratinéed With Mozzarella Cheese, RM38.00). The chicken is stuffed with black olives and tomato coulis, which is then baked with mozzarella cheese. Overall, the chicken is reasonably tender and flavorful, but I think it is on the salty side of comfort due to overpowering effect of cheese.
This poultry dish also includes a heap of handmade mashed potato. Through its grainy texture, I can tell that mashed potato is made from scratch. In addition, the platter also includes kale with balsamic vinegar.
