Ri Ri Dao Chinese Restaurant (日日到小炒) is a roadside shop near the Air Panas wet market. This Chinese stir-frying (煮炒) business should not be confused with Restoran Tien Tien Lai Seafood (天天来海鲜饭店). The latter is also located in Ayer Panas and is operated by relatives of the former.

The restaurant has a small tank with a handful of live fish inside. Our order of Curry Fish (咖哩鱼) is tilapia (非洲鱼). The fish’s flesh is acceptable but the curry is spicier than average.

As recommended by the shop’s proprietor, we also ordered Kong Nam Heong (港南香). The dish is very similar to dongpo pork (东坡肉). As far as I am concerned, it is indeed dongpo pork. The pork belly, a mixture of fat and lean meat, is served with thick savory sauce and fat choy (发菜). I feel that the pork and sauce do not seem to assimilate well.

Hot Plate Tofu (铁板豆腐) is served sizzling hot. The pan contains slices of Japanese tofu (日本豆腐), egg, minced pork, onion and scallion. This dish is acceptable but there is really nothing to shout about.

Served in light gravy and garlic, Mixed Vegetables (杂菜) is a mixture of broccoli, sweet pea, cabbage, carrot and minced pork. It is evident that the broccoli has turned yellow. I am dismayed that the restaurant’s audacity to use stale ingredients.

Sweet Potato Leaves (番薯叶) have silky and juicy texture, but their strong leafy aroma may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Today’s meal for 5 person costs RM96.50, which I feel that is exorbitant considering the poor quality of food. Table service is awfully slow, despite the fact that we are the first party to arrive the place today.
