This article is part of my 2019 Cameron Highlands trip series.

BOH Tea Plantation is the largest tea producer in Malaysia. Founded in 1929, BOH has a visitor center at Sungei Palas, Cameron Highlands. The attraction can be reached via a winding road on the way to the summit of Gunung Brinchang. This hilly road branches off the main road near Cameron Highlands Bee Farm.

The BOH Tea Centre commands panoramic views of the lush tea plantation. It is impossible not to be mesmerized by the idyllic scenery here.

Besides the expansive tea plantation, the Sungei Palas facility has a factory and a visitor center too. BOH provides factory tours every 15 minutes from 8:30am to 5:00pm. The guided tour takes around 10 minutes.

The factory tour is free of charge, but visitors are not allowed to take photographs inside the facility. We are told that tea processing involves 5 steps: withering, rolling, fermentation, drying and sorting. Packaging is done in another facility in Kuala Lumpur.

The BOH Tea Centre has a café which serves tea and scones. An outdoor terrace affords great views of the rolling hills. Immerse yourself in the breathtaking landscape while sipping premium teas like Gunung Chantik (RM4.70) and Palas Supreme (RM4.70).

BOH also has another tea plantation at Habu, but it is more remote and is not as popular as this Sungei Palas facility.
