As the name implies, the Chinese restaurant specializes in Fish Head dishes. There are several cooking methods; we opted for Asam Fish Head (阿叁鱼头, RM32.00). The choice of fish is bighead carp (松鱼), a relatively affordable freshwater fish. The fish is served with sweet-and-spicy gravy, tomatoes and lady’s fingers (okra).
Also served this evening is Oyster Sauce Hong Kong Kai Lan (蚝油香港芥兰, RM9.00). The vegetable leaf has glossy leaves, thick stems and yellow flower heads. Fried garlic serve to enhance the aroma of this steamed dish.
Bean Sprout & Salted Fish (蚝油芽菜咸鱼, RM9.00) is another popular and inexpensive dish. It is fried with oyster sauce.
The dishes at Hua Wang Steamed Fish Head are reasonably good. This explains why the restaurant is quite popular among locals. For our next visit, we should try other versions of Fish Head dishes such as Steamed Fish Head (清蒸鱼头), Ginger Fish Head (姜茸鱼头) and Bean Paste Fish Head (酱蒸鱼头).
