Nestled in the vibrant heart of Kuala Lumpur, Dorsett Hartamas Kuala Lumpur offers a serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. Among its many attractions, the Hi-Tea Sojourn stands out as a charming afternoon escape for both locals and visitors.

From 3 pm to 6 pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and priced at RM88 nett for two adults and RM68 nett for two seniors (60 years and above), this delightful afternoon tea experience offers a curated selection of sweet and savory treats, perfect for indulging in leisurely conversation and satisfying your taste buds.

The ambiance of the dining area was inviting, with elegant table settings and a relaxed atmosphere. The highlight, of course, was the three-tiered stand showcasing the Hi-Tea Sojourn’s culinary delights.

In addition to the traditional three-tiered delights, this hi-tea set includes some local savory treats. First up is the satay. The meat is grilled to perfection, juicy and full of flavor. The peanut gravy is a perfect blend of sweet, salty, and savory, making it the ideal companion for the satay.

The next surprise is the curry noodles, and it’s definitely a winner! The curry broth is rich and flavorful, infused with spices and the creamy goodness of coconut milk. Packed with a variety of ingredients, this bowl of noodles is pure comfort for the stomach.

Let’s dive into the delightful three-tiered hi-tea experience! We begin with the first tier, which features a selection of Malaysian favorites: cucur udangapam gula hangus, and tuna puffs. All three of these items are beloved in Malaysia, making them perfect additions to any afternoon hi-tea spread.

Cucur udang, or prawn fritters, are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, offering a perfect balance of textures. The prawns add a delightful seafood flavor that pairs wonderfully with the accompanying dipping sauce.

Finally, the tuna puffs are a savory delight, with a flaky pastry exterior and a rich, flavorful tuna filling. These puffs are a perfect bite-sized snack, combining the buttery pastry with the savory tuna for a satisfying treat. Whereas Apam gula hangus is a traditional Malaysian sponge cake known for its caramelized sweetness and soft, airy texture. This treat is a nostalgic favorite, bringing back memories of home-cooked goodness.

The second tier of our afternoon tea set features a delightful selection of sweet desserts, including classic tiramisu, rich butter pound cake, fruit tarts, and delicate macarons. We were particularly impressed by the fruit tarts. Their fragrant, buttery crust perfectly complemented the fresh, vibrant fruit topping. The tarts were further enhanced by a light, fresh cream that added a touch of elegance to each bite.

The final tier of our afternoon tea set features two savory delights: tuna croissant and mini burger which are freshly made in the Table Talk kitchen. The tuna croissant is a must-try, especially when it’s hot. It boasts a special in-house recipe for the tuna filling, which is perfectly complemented by the crispy, flaky croissant.

Meanwhile, the mini burger offers a balanced portion of protein, fiber, and carbohydrates, making it an excellent choice for afternoon tea. Its thoughtful composition ensures that it is both satisfying and nutritious, providing a delightful savory option to round out your tea experience!

When it came to drinks, The Hi-Tea Sojourn had a great selection of premium teas to go with the food. We went with the classic English Breakfast tea and Earl Grey tea, which perfectly balanced the rich flavors of the treats.
