Since the opening of Elit Avenue, several eateries have taken residence here. Restoran Nasi Lemak Serai is one of them.
The food served here is nasi lemak. Besides the basic nasi lemak, there are several optional ingredients to go with it, such as fried fish, fried chicken, lor bak (卤肉), sambal petai.
My lunch is the Ayam Rendang Nasi Lemak Set (RM6.00). This plate includes a piece of rendang chicken and a portion of stir-fried cabbage. There is also cucumber and some sambal sauce. The sambal is very spicy, worth trying.
The rice used is normal white rice; this is a disappointment as I was hoping for fragrant rice (cooked in coconut milk) as often used for nasi lemak. Notably missing are roasted peanuts and anchovies. I think these make the nasi lemak dish more complete.
The rendang chicken is reasonable in size. The taste is delectable, thanks to heavy marinate by the richly-flavored gravy.
The beverage of choice is Lemongrass Herbal Drink (香茅水, RM1.30). This is homemade and does not contain any preservatives. The sweetness is mild, which is just my cup of tea.
