Humble beginnings
Jack and Jill* share a passion for food and traveling.
* no relation to the potato chips brand 🥔
We started our blog back in 2010 to chronicle every moment of our journey, and every morsel of food that we tasted.
In the early days, our website was known as Penang Food For Thought. Back then, we mostly covered local eats from the Pearl of the Orient.
After we set our sights to explore the rest of Malaysia and beyond, we rebranded our blog as Foodveler.
As you might have guessed, we coined the term “Foodveler” as a portmanteau of the words “Food”😋and “Travel”🧳.
What we do
We truly believe that Malaysia offers far more places 📍 which are worth exploring than what most Malaysians are even aware of.
Beyond the major cities and towns, Malaysia has hundreds of hidden gems 💎 off the beaten track. Each place offers a unique staycation experience for people from all walks of life.
When we visit a quaint village 🌴, we aim to appreciate the lifestyle and customs practiced by locals. We prefer to taste the local dishes whose recipes have been passed down through the generations.
While exploring the wilderness, we want to capture the mesmerizing beauty of Malaysia’s lush rainforests, rolling mountains and pristine beaches. ⛰️
And back in the urban cityscape, we want to share the cosmopolitan culture that reflects the multiracial society that makes Malaysia truly Malaysian. 🌃
The myriad of museums, cultural centers, monuments, attractions, hotels and restaurants across the country offers endless staycation ideas. 🎨
