Dorsett Grand Subang is a 5-star hotel near the Subang Jaya Medical Centre. As Christmas is coming soon, a large Christmas tree stands magnificently in the hotel lobby. Interestingly, the tree is decorated with bunga raya (hibiscus), which is the national flower of Malaysia.
Dorsett Grand Subang is serving yuletide-themed meals during this holiday season. For instance on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, buffet dinner is served simultaneously at Terazza Brasserie, Cafe Aroma, The Emperor and Melati Room. Tonight’s preview event is held at Terazza Brasserie, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant.
“Around The World Buffet” is the overarching theme this Christmas season. As the name implies, the buffet menu covers a wide range of dishes across different cuisines. To bring the festive atmosphere, the food counters are decorated with large ice sculptures of reindeers and Christmas bells.
Commencing at the carving station, the Roasted Turkey is served with chestnut stuffing, roasted potatoes and assorted vegetables. As per tradition, giblet gravy and cranberry sauce are prepared too. The cranberry sauce is more popular thanks to its delightfully sweet taste.
It is impossible to overlook the Baked Salmon. The whole fish weighs almost 20 kilograms! Although the fish looks raw, it is actually cooked – at least under the skin. Moving towards the center of the fish, the meat becomes increasingly rare and juicy.
Moving on to chafing dishes, Grilled Salmon stands out prominently. Cut into bite-size pieces, the fish is wrapped with seaweed and flavored with coriander sauce.
As for poultry, Oven Roasted Chicken Roulade is served with tomato-based romesco sauce. Meanwhile, Stir-Fried Squid and Lamb Varuval are recommended Asian dishes.
The Japanese section has an assortment of sushi on a wooden boat. Condiments like wasabi, pickled ginger and soy sauce are provided.
Cold cuts are garnished with green and black olives. Also present are Classic Italian Salad and Pear, Feta Cheese & Walnut Salad.
Other salad choices are Creamy Pea Salad, Caprese Salad, Spanish Potato Salad and Apple Walnut Rainbow Salad.
Another essential aspect of Christmas feast is the dazzling display of yuletide confections. Diners can indulge in festive favorites such as Christmas Stollen, Panettone, Mini Mince Pie, Yule Log Cake and Christmas Pudding.
Crêpes Suzette are prepared at the à la minute section of the buffet. The French dessert is served with spreads like honey, jam, maple syrup and chocolate sauce.
Assorted Malay pastries include kuih lapis, kek gula hangus, seri muka and pulut inti.
Diners who love the rich taste of cocoa should not miss the chocolate fountain. There are marshmallows, grapes, apricots and cherry tomatoes on skewers.
Soup choices this evening are Lobster Bisque and Herbal Chicken Soup. Freshly baked bread rolls are provided to go with the soups.
The Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve buffet dinners are priced at RM150.00 net per person. Children between ages 6 and 12 enjoy 50% discount. In addition, Dorsett Grand Subang has several more buffet sessions throughout the year-end holidays.
As for customers who prefer to celebrate Christmas at home, Roasted Turkey can be ordered 2 days in advance. The hotel provides free delivery to the surrounding neighborhood. Meanwhile, many festive confections that are served in the buffet can also be purchased from the Christmas shack at the lobby.
