Kedai Kopi Taman Eng Ann (兴利茶饼室) is a popular eatery in the immediate vicinity. The shop sells bak kut teh (肉骨茶) and stir-fried dishes (大炒) at night. During the day, it is a typical Chinese coffee shop with several hawker stalls.
Most locals enjoy Bread With Butter (牛油面包, RM2.00), an observation that we were quick to emulate. There is a choice of either sliced bread or bun. We opted for the latter. Served with butter and kaya (coconut jam), this comfort food is surely enjoyable.
As for drinks, the hot cup of Kopi (咖啡, RM1.80) is on the sweet side. I think most Malaysians are used to this level of sweetness, which is troubling since the amount of sugar is unhealthy. For something with fewer calories, a glass of iced Chinese Tea (唐茶, RM0.50) is in good order.
