This article is part of my 2019 Cameron Highlands trip series.

Orchid & Rose Garden, or O&R Garden for short, is an attraction in Kea Farm. The farm occupies a small valley between Copthorne Cameron Highlands and Cameron Square.

After passing the ticket booth, visitors have their photos taken by a staff member. The photos can be purchased when exiting. Visitors then walk down a ramp which leads to the main exhibits.

O&R Garden showcases more than 100 varieties of plants. As the name implies, the farm features orchids and roses most prominently.

Most flower patches are sheltered by canopies. This is necessary to limit the amount of sunlight and protect the plants from the elements.

Orchids are widely grown in horticulture. There are many species and hybrids of orchids. As a result, orchid flowers come in a wide range of colors.

Similarly, the diversity of roses is astounding. The flowers come in various shades from red to yellows. Roses are prized for their beauty and aroma.

Daisies are also found in O&R Garden. The flowers come in red, orange, yellow, pink or white colors.

The red hibiscus is the national flower of Malaysia. Each flower has five petals. Some flowers are as large as a human hand!

Besides the iconic red hibiscus, there are cultivars of other colors too. Common colors are pink, orange, yellow and white.

Balloonplant is native to Africa but is now grown in many places. The plant has green, balloon-like fruits. The fruits are covered with hairs and are full of seeds!

Native to the Philippines, jade vines have turquoise flowers. Since turquoise color is a rarity in nature, this ornamental plant is highly prized.

Visitors can take a 500-meter Jungle Walk around the farm. There are several viewing platforms along the way. These spots provide idyllic views of the countryside.

The Jungle Walk passes several fruit trees. As tempting as it may be, please refrain from picking the fruits.

Be sure to check out the barnyard animals on the way out. There are goats, ducks and chicken just to name a few.
