Standing tall amidst the bustling Sungai Way New Village, the Sungai Way Nine Emperor Gods Temple is another revered temple in the hearts of the local residents, apart from the Toh Guan Seng Temple.

Sungai Way Nine Emperor Gods Temple: A Cultural Marvel in the Heart of the Village
The story traces back to the Kelantan Leng Eng Tian. At that time, the incense of the main temple Ling Ying Tian came all the way from China. Subsequently, in the 1970s, the main temple established branch temples in Perak and Sungai Way. Therefore, the relationship among these three Ling Ying temples can be said to have a long and profound history.

Unfortunately, due to the restrictions on photography inside the temple, we can only share photos of the temple’s exterior. Look at the picture below – the grand archway before us is not only resplendent but also magnificent, having cost RM 400,000 to construct.

Inside the main hall, nearly 30 statues of various deities are enshrined. Another significant feature is the side door covered in yellow cloth, leading to the inner sanctum where the Nine Emperor Gods are enshrined. This inner sanctum remains closed throughout the year, shrouded in an air of mystique.

What makes this temple special is its many splendid murals and colorful carvings, with high artistic value.

The original temple was located on the Fourth Road, but it was later moved to the Fifth Road at a cost of RM 2.5 million. Groundbreaking took place on April 11, 2011, and a temple-relocation ceremony was held on July 7, 2012.

The stone lions are lifelike, and the stone carvings throughout the temple are works of art.

The towering North and South Dipper Pagodas reach into the sky.

On the day of our visit, we saw worshippers crafting bamboo boats, likely in preparation for the annual Nine Emperor Gods Festival.

Every year, from the first day to the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, the Nine Emperor Gods Festival is celebrated with grand festivities. This is one of the most happening festivals within the community.
