EQ Kuala Lumpur was formerly known as Hotel Equatorial. Back then, Golden Phoenix was celebrated for its culinary excellence in Chinese cuisine. In honor of the restaurant’s legacy, EQ Kuala Lumpur revives Golden Phoenix for a limited time every Chinese New Year. The pop-up restaurant allows diners to relive cherished flavors of the past, adding to the festive cheer of the Lunar New Year.
This year, the first floor of EQ Kuala Lumpur is the temporary home of Golden Phoenix. Available from 14 January 2025 to 12 February 2025. the menu entices diners with classic delicacies that long-time patrons are very familiar with.

Happy Reunion
Golden Phoenix serves several set meals including a full vegetarian one. Also included are Yee Sang, Traditional Roast Duck, Premium Poon Choy as well as several à la carte dishes. This evening, we have the pleasure of tasting the 8-course Happy Reunion set meal. The menu is priced at RM288 with a minimum of four people.
Norwegian Salmon & Jellyfish Yee Sang
Fresh Norwegian salmon meets crispy jellyfish in a vibrant and auspicious display. Fruits, vegetables and nuts also join this symphony of flavors, all tossed in tangy-sweet dressing. With each ingredient added, the servers share blessings of prosperity. Then with a joyful ‘Huat Ah!’ toast, everyone tosses the salad high in the air, symbolizing rising fortunes and good luck in the new year.
Braised Dried Assorted Seafood Soup with Fish Maw
Remove the lid and enjoy the rich aroma of seafood. The bowl contains a variety of seafood delicacies in a rich broth. Each spoonful of the viscous soup offers satisfying multilayered flavors, guaranteed to whet your appetite to the last drop.
The highlight of this soup is the large fish maw. Thick and supple, the fish maw has melt-in-your-mouth texture that is both delicate and chewy. Each bite releases subtle sweetness that lingers on the palate.
Steamed Red Snapper with Pickled Cabbage & Minced Chicken
The delicate sweetness of red snapper pairs beautifully with savory minced chicken. Black and white fungus add contrasting textures, enhancing the smoothness of the fish.
⭐Roasted Sesame Chicken with Fragrant Garlic & Spicy Vinegar Sauce
Golden Phoenix’s signature roasted sesame chicken features crispy brown skin coated with sesame seeds. Each bite is a harmonious blend of tender chicken and fragrant garlic. Paired with a special concoction of garlic chili sauce, this poultry dish is utterly irresistible.
Deep-Fried Prawns with Salted Egg Yolk & Sweet Corn
