Today’s lunch brings me to Macallum Connoisseurs at Gat Lebuh Macallum. Macallum Connoisseurs serves as a café, coffee roastery and barista academy under one roof.
Stepping inside, the restaurant is spacious indeed. Spanning across the ceiling is an array of solar panels. Not only do solar panels generate electricity, they filter sunlight and reduce the need for air conditioning.
Macallum Connoisseurs has a decent range of coffee, tea and non-caffeinated beverages. My drink of choice is Café Vienna (RM9.00), also known as espresso con panna (“espresso with cream”) in Italy. Café Vienna contains two shots of espresso and is topped with cocoa powder.
As for food, Smokey Duck Breast (RM25.00) is delightfully tender and succulent. The juicy breast is cooked with port wine and raisins. Smokey Duck Breast is served with garden salad made of arugula, red cabbage and cherry tomatoes.
Grilled Salmon Fillet (RM28.00) is well prepared too. Lightly browned on both sides, the fillet is flavored with creamy hollandaise sauce. The dish comes with asparagus and caramelized balsamic onions.
The dishes at Macallum Connoisseurs are remarkably delectable. Given the spacious dining area, the place is a popular venue for private parties.
