Special thanks to The Royale Bintang Penang for extending this food review invitation.

Apart from The Spice, Sri Tanjung Cafe is another restaurant at The Royale Bintang Penang. Located at the ground floor of the historical Boustead Building, this eatery provides complimentary breakfast for hotel guests.

In conjunction with the hotel’s 2nd year anniversary, Sri Tanjung Cafe is hosting the Ho Chiak Buffet Lunch every weekday from 21 to 31 March 2016, between 12:00pm and 2:30pm. Affordably priced at RM35.00 net per adult and RM25.00 net per child or senior citizen, this is among the cheapest buffets of similar quality.

For cooked dishes, Tenggiri Fish Curry is one of the prominent ones. The sour-spicy gravy is an excellent way to ignite the appetite flame. In the curry are slices of mackerel are stewed with okra (ladies’ fingers) and tomato. If you are lucky, you might even find a delectable roe!

Ayam Masak Merah comes with mildly sweet gravy. The chicken is quite tender and light on the mouth.

For bolder flavors, try some Braised Beef flavored with sweet onions and fiery chili peppers.

As for something lighter on the palate, there are Malay delicacies such as Ulam, Taukua Sumbat and Seafood Glass Noodles. Vegetarians can help themselves to a handful of vegetable salads and dressing.

Moving on to pastries, Chocolate Moist Cake takes the center stage today with its dark chocolate icing.

Not willing to be outdone, Chocolate Sponge Cake also packs a decent dosage of cocoa goodness.

There are Mini Tartlets filled with sweet custard and topped with fruits like peach, kiwi, strawberry and grape.

At the tiered stand are individual servings of goodies such as Sago Gula Melaka, Chocolate Mousse, Pandan Custard, Strawberry Jelly and Crème Brûlée.

I like the Chocolate Mousse in particular. The mousse is pleasantly sweet yet not surfeiting.

Last but not least, diners can conclude a hearty meal by taking some fresh fruits from the fruit platters.
