Located near Olive Tree Hotel is an eatery with a peculiar name, Something Else Bistro & Bar. Adjacent to Arang Coffee, the restaurant has several tables outside to allow al fresco dining. Thankfully the bistro does not face the evening sun.
As a drinking establishment, Something Else has a bar on one side of the indoor dining area. A small stage at the back is where live music is performed every evening.
Besides alcoholic beverages, Something Else also serves light meals. The soup of the day is Pumpkin Soup. Taking advantage of the fruit’s natural sweetness, the creamy soup is soothing to the palate. Croutons and black pepper are thrown into the mix.
Chilli Chilli Bang Bang (RM18.40) is obviously a parody of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang“, a classic musical film from the 1960s. Known in Spanish as “chili con carne“, the dish is a stew of slow-cooked ground beef, chili peppers, tomatoes and onions. A basket of toasted garlic bread is provided to mop up the chili.
As for the dessert, available ice cream flavors are vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. I opted for strawberry ice cream today. It is served with a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
