Coffee House is the all-day dining restaurant in The Gurney Resort Hotel & Residences. Located at the mezzanine floor, the eatery overlooks the grand lobby. Wooden floor gives the place a touch of warmth. This restaurant is also where in-house guests have breakfast.
Coffee House serves Express Executive Lunch on weekdays from 12:00pm to 2:30pm. Obviously, the buffet lunch is meant to cater to office workers who need a quick bite. The menu consists of several chafing dishes which are rotated daily.
Ikan Keli Masak Sambal is a classic Malay dish. I appreciate the delicate texture of catfish. Be cautious when eating because the fish is riddled with small bones. The spicy chili sauce is quite appetizing.
Ayam Masak Kicap is another popular Malay dish. Chicken is cooked with sweet soy sauce, giving it sweet and savory flavors. Ayam Masak Kicap goes pretty well with rice.
For something light on the palate, Japanese Tofu is a good choice. The dish comprises of button mushrooms, green peas, sweet corn and diced carrots in oyster sauce.
Should diners require condiments, sambal belacan (spicy shrimp paste) and sambal kicap (spicy soy sauce) are available in mortars. As for fruits, pineapples and watermelon are provided.
Today’s soup is Chicken Soup. It contains Chinese herbs like jujube, wolfberries and scented Solomon’s seal.
Customers also enjoy free flow of orange juice and water. If you need a shot of caffeine, the espresso machine brews coffee for a token amount of RM2.00 only. I bet you cannot find espresso-based coffee at a lower price than this.
Priced at RM12.00 net, the Express Executive Lunch is one of the most affordable all-you-can-eat lunches in town. Remember to present your parking ticket to get a rebate of RM5.00 when you dine in. On a side note, Coffee House also serves Sunday Brunch in buffet style for RM38.00 net per person.
