Special thanks to Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre for extending this food review invitation.
Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre is a 5-star hotel in Bukit Bintang. In view of travel restrictions lately, the hotel is introducing BBQ set meals for customers to enjoy in the comfort (and safety) of their own homes. The meals are available for take-away or delivery within Klang Valley.
Pullman KLCC offers 2 menu options: Asian BBQ and Western BBQ. Each set comprises several main courses, sides and desserts and drinks. Customers can opt for additional side dishes and drinks.
We are reviewing the Asian BBQ set meal today. The first dish is Roasted Spring Chicken. The half bird is seasoned with five-spice powder.
Next, Grilled Beef is thoroughly marinated with turmeric, making the meat quite succulent. The dish is best enjoyed with sour-and-spicy tamarind sauce.
Moving on, the Lamb Kebab is commendable indeed. The well-flavored mutton goes well with the accompanying cucumber raita.
Yakitori Grilled Chicken is another recommended dish. Using a combination of lean and fatty meat, the skewered chicken is grilled to golden perfection. Sweet teriyaki sauce is provided.
Portuguese-Style Baked Fish is an iconic dish from Malacca. The mackerel is blended with a mixture of chili peppers, tamarind juice and other spices.
Grilled Whole Squids are cooked in a similar manner. Squids are tasteless on their own, so they rely on pungent spices for added flavor.
Moving on, Grilled Clams are cooked with ginger and spring onions. New Zealand green-lipped mussels are used here.
Butter Prawns are coated with oatmeal cereal and aromatic curry leaves. This mouthwatering dish has a lovely crunch that strikes a chord with the palate.
Today’s side dishes are Nasi Briyani, Wok-Fried Mixed Vegetables and Fish Crackers. Nasi Briyani is cooked in the style of Nasi Hujan Panas.
Other side dishes are Som Tam (Thai-style papaya salad), Acar (pickled vegetables), Potesara (Japanese potato salad) and Chuka Kurage (seasoned jellyfish). These dishes reflect the diversity of Asian cuisines.
As condiments play an important role in Asian cuisines, the Asian BBQ set meal also includes lemon butter sauce, barbecue sauce, peanut sauce, black pepper sauce, chimichurri sauce and sambal sauce.
Moving on to desserts, Apam Gula Hangus (honeycomb cake) and Mixed Fruits serve to cleanse the palate after a heavy feast.
Our choice of drinks is Virgin Mojito. The non-alcoholic beverage is made of lime juice, mint leaves, soda water and syrup.
Should you prefer a lighter meal, Pullman KLCC also offers bento boxes, pastries and frozen dim sum. To place an order, simply drop a message via WhatsApp to (+60) 16-290 3864 or send an email to restaurants@pullman-klcc.com.
