Fresh is the all-day dining restaurant in Thistle Port Dickson Resort. The eatery serves traditional Minangkabau delicacies, local Malaysian delights and international favorites like burgers and pizzas.
Besides the à la carte menu, Fresh also serves Cita Rasa Gerai Buffet Dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings. The buffet menu revolves around hawker dishes that Malaysians know and love.
Today’s menu features a poultry dish called Ayam Ungkep Minangkabau. “Ungkep” is a unique type of marination where the chicken is cooked with a mixture of spices prior to frying. This marination method improves infusion of spices, resulting in rich turmeric taste within the chicken.
Next, Rendang Burung Wak-Wak is one of the signature dishes at Thistle. “Wak-wak” is the local name for the white-breasted waterhen. The bird is slightly smaller than an average chicken, but has pretty similar texture and taste profile.
Rendang Daging and Rendang Ayam are prepared too. These rendang dishes are slow-cooked for several hours, culminating in mouth-watering savory flavors that go well with rice.
Chafing dishes this evening include Butter Prawns With Oat, Kari Kepala Ikan Kacang Bendi, Lamb Kurma Berkentang and more.
Also prepared are several types of Kerabu (Malay-style salad) and Acar (pickled vegetables). Meanwhile, Ulam-Ulaman (raw vegetables) are served with condiments like sambal belacan and cincalok.
The Chicken Rice stall offers roasted chicken and boiled chicken. The chicken goes well with oily rice. Sliced tomato and cucumber are available.
Cucur Ubi Keledek and Cucur Manis serve as snacks. These deep-fried fritters are best consumed while they are still hot from the fryer. Sweet chili sauce serves as the condiment.
The Char Kway Teow here is surprisingly good. Other hawker dishes include Nasi Lemak, Murtabak, Mee Rebus Tulang Rawan, Laksam Pantai Timur and Ais Kacang.
The desserts section features several varieties of cake, tart, jelly and traditional Malay kuih. Cut fruits like honeydew, papaya and watermelon are available too.
Cita Rasa Gerai Buffet Dinner is priced at RM60.00 net for adults and RM38.00 net for children. In addition, the resort also serves Dim Sum Semi-Buffet Lunch every Saturday and Sunday.
