Approaching the reception counter, we are greeted with smiles from the resort staff.

Spread across three wings, the resort has 294 guestrooms of various types. This time, we are staying in the King Executive Room Sea View with Balcony. At the sea level, the white sands of Damai Laut Beach stretch before us. Fortunately for us, the sky is perfectly blue with occasional white clouds. What a breathtaking scenery this is!

In the distance, the faint outline of Pangkor Island appears on the horizon. This stretch of sea played a significant role in shaping Malaysia’s history. The Pangkor Treaty of 1874 was signed onboard a British ship in this general vicinity. This watershed event eventually paved the way for British colonization of the Malay states.

Due to the shielding effect of Pangkor Island, the waters here are relatively calm. Gentle waves lapping the shore create a soothing rhythm that lulls the mind. This serene setting is occasionally punctuated by the passage of naval vessels, a reminder that Lumut’s naval base is just around the corner.

As we stroll along the beach, interesting rock formations dot the shoreline.

Smooth, rounded boulders lay scattered like giant marbles, inviting us to discover barnacles that cling onto their surfaces.

At other spots, large trees provide a welcome respite from the tropical sun. Of course, these are perfect spots for beachside picnics!

Although the waters around Damai Laut Beach appear calm, it is always important to observe beach safety. Be aware of the possibility of rip currents especially near rocky areas. Also, please be mindful that jellyfish may be present in the waters.

Sunset Views

As the day draws to a close, don’t miss the opportunity to catch beautiful sunset views. The best spot to enjoy the sunset is at the front of Makan Kitchen. As the sun kisses the horizon, the sky is transformed into a canvas with vibrant shades of gold.
