Besides the yearlong classic afternoon tea, Le Méridien Petaling Jaya also offers themed versions on selected months. For example, the ongoing Au Soleil Afternoon Tea is served from mid-June through September, coinciding with the summer season in the northern hemisphere. In fact, “au soleil” means “under the sun” in French.

Around the world, the lobby lounge at each Le Méridien hotel adheres to an interesting naming convention. The lounge is called either “Latitude” or “Longitude”, followed by the actual latitude or longitude of the premises.

This naming convention gives each outlet a global brand identity and also a feeling of individuality.

In the case of Le Méridien Petaling Jaya, the lobby lounge is called Latitude 03° 06’. Its cozy atmosphere makes the outlet a suitable venue for both business and leisure settings.

The menu at Latitude 03° 06’ covers a range of snacks and light meals. Heavier meals from Pasar Baru can also be served here upon request. Meanwhile, the bar is stocked with a myriad of beverages including alcoholic ones.

French – Asian Fusion Afternoon Tea

Originating in France, Le Méridien hotels are renowned for their exquisite French pastries. This season, Chef Ramdan and Chef John are introducing a delightful twist to the Au Soleil Afternoon Tea by infusing Asian elements.

Chef Ramdan & Chef John

The Au Soleil Afternoon Tea is meant for 2 people. Served on a tiered stand are savory bites from the hot kitchen, as well as sweet confections from the pastry kitchen.

Tea or Coffee?

Each serving of Au Soleil Afternoon Tea comes with any two beverages of choice.

For coffee, we opted for a cup of Cappuccino. The espresso is extracted from Illy coffee beans.

Cappuccino from Illy

As for tea, our choice is a cup of classic Earl Grey brewed from premium Dilmah tea leaves.

Personally, I think afternoon tea is meant to be enjoyed with tea. But the choice is entirely yours! You can also opt for hot chocolate if you prefer something without caffeine.
