The Piccolo Chef Restaurant is a humble eatery in Bandar Bukit Raja Klang. The neighborhood restaurant is the brainchild of Chef Gavin, who earned the nickname “Piccolo Chef” during his culinary internship in Italy.

Chef Gavin has an impressive résumé, having graduated with a degree in culinary management specializing in Italian cuisine. After honing his skills in a traditional Italian restaurant in Lombardy, he joined the fine-dining scene in Singapore where he won several culinary awards. With a wealth of knowledge under his belt, Chef Gavin returned to his hometown in Klang to continue serving culinary delights.

Menu Highlights

Our culinary journey today covers several of Chef Gavin’s signature dishes. From traditional Italian fare to localized comfort food, each dish offers a unique twist that leaves us pleasantly surprised.

Hahahar Mee Aglio Olio

This dish is a playful twist on the classic Italian pasta. Tiger prawns, lightly fried to a crisp, take the center stage. Cooked al dente, the pasta beautifully absorbs rich prawn broth that has been stewed for 6 hours. The dish is complemented by sautéed shallots, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes and fried garlic. Finally, a sprinkle of refreshing coriander adds a vibrant finishing touch to this delightful dish.

Homemade Dumplings

Chef Gavin’s homemade dumplings are undoubtedly one of today’s highlights! Similar in appearance to ravioli, these succulent dumplings are filled with morsels of prawns. However, the true secret lies in the savory broth that is prepared from seafood stock and crab meat.

Also included in the dumplings are fried garlic, fresh coriander and a touch of chili oil. With so many ingredients packed into each dumpling, each mouthful is an indulging interplay of textures and flavors.

Chicken Shepherd’s Pie

As per English tradition, this comfort food is topped with mashed potato in lieu of pastry crust. The mashed potato is incredibly rich and creamy, but without the surfeiting sensation that one may expect.

The filling comprises of slow-cooked minced chicken, carrots, mushrooms and a hint of herbs. Overall, the pie is satisfying and easy to enjoy. Embodying the essence of comfort food, this dish evokes memories of lovely meals that grandma used to prepare in yesteryears.

Hainanese Chicken Risotto

The Hainanese Chicken Risotto clearly showcases Chef Gavin’s culinary creativity. This fusion dish captures the essence of Hainanese chicken rice by incorporating chicken stock and ginger. Also included are flavorful slices of chicken roulade. Deboned and marinated for 24 hours, the chicken roulade is cooked sous vide to give it the ultimate tenderness.

Specialty Drinks

Piccolo

The petite cup of Piccolo is infused with bold, intense flavor of espresso. Meanwhile, frothy steam milk adds a touch of sweetness and velvety texture to this satisfying drink.

Suisen Genmai

As for non-caffeinated beverages, Suisen Genmai is prepared from roasted brown rice. This gives the drink soothing toasty aroma right off the bat. Mixed with milk, each sip of Suisen Genmai warms the heart and leaves a lovely impression at the end of our meal.
