Oysters, Oysters and More Oysters!

Eye Openers – Raw Oyster Shooter

Before diving into the array of marine delicacies, prep your palate with a refreshing appetizer! The Raw Oyster Shooter offers a unique twist on the classic shooter experience.

Served in a shot glass, a plump oyster is bathed in chilled tomato purée. This is the perfect appetizer to start the feast!

The Raw Oyster Shooter is meant to be downed in one gulp! Experience the refreshing tanginess of tomato alongside briny notes of raw oyster. As for the finishing touch, wrap your lips around the zesty lemon as you continue the oyster journey ahead!

Fine de Claire Oysters from France

Harvested from knee-deep ponds, Fine de Claire Oysters have sweet, fruity flavors thanks to the abundance of phytoplankton in the Atlantic Ocean.

Although smaller in size than its cousins, these prized oysters are succulent and juicy nevertheless.

Coffin Bay Oysters from Australia

Coffin Bay Oysters from South Australia are known for their fleshy, creamy texture. The flavor profile is milder and has a subtle “grassy” finish, possibly due to their diet of algae in the water.

Tongyeong Oysters from South Korea

The Tongyeong Oysters have more pronounced saltiness as a result of higher salinity in Korean waters.

If you enjoy briny notes in oysters, these Korean oysters should be part of your gastronomical odyssey.

Gallagher Oysters from Ireland

The crown jewel among oysters belongs to Gallagher Oysters from Ireland! Taking advantage of nutrient-rich waters from the North Atlantic Ocean, these marine delicacies have full, briny flavors with a powerful finish!

To ensure absolute freshness, the oysters are kept alive and are only shucked tableside. Unlike other oyster varieties, Gallagher Oysters are only prepared in limited numbers, so be sure to savor every mouthful!

Oyster Tempura

Besides raw oysters, the buffet offers a dazzling range of cooking styles revolving oysters! For instance, the live cooking station is where Oyster Tempura is prepared.

Chef Shahrul preparing Oyster Tempura

The result? Perfectly cooked fritters with fluffy batter on the outside, and juicy oyster awaiting inside.

This Japanese-inspired snack offers a delightful contrast of textures and flavors that you won’t want to miss!

Oyster Au Gratin

Oyster Au Gratin comprises of oysters baked in creamy cheese. As you indulge in this decadent dish, the richness of cheese beautifully complements the briny taste of oysters, creating a luxurious experience second to none.

Oyster Omelette

Inspired by local street food, the Oyster Omelette features oysters resting on fluffy, eggy crêpes. Chili peppers on top gives a fiery kick as you consume the omelette.

Black Pepper Oyster Delight

Black Pepper Oyster Delight lets the natural taste of the oysters take center stage. The raw oysters are seasoned with fiery black pepper sauce, producing a sensation of being “cooked” as they enter your mouth. This an absolute must-try this evening!

Oyster Pakora

For an Indian twist to the oyster theme, check out the Oyster Pakora! Made from chickpeas, the batter is infused with aromatic spices that add a warm, savory layer to oysters.

Seafood On Ice

Although oysters take the center stage, the buffet dinner also includes a treasure trove of Seafood On Ice!

No seafood extravaganza is complete without crustaceans, so dive into a selection of succulent prawns and yabbies.

Shellfish options include green mussels, scallops, sapak clams and lokam clams.

To truly enjoy Seafood On Ice, there are over 10 types of condiments at your disposal! From the classic Mignonette (a perfect complement to oysters) to tangy Songkran sauce, and from creamy Wasabi Mayonnaise to fruity Mango Salsa, you’ll have a symphony of flavors to explore.

Experiment with different pairings of seafood and sauces. Give your taste buds a different experience with every bite.

A Taste of Japan

For diners who love Japanese food, a new Japanese section has been added to the buffet line!

Featuring a variety of Sashimi and Sushi, this section provides an alternative approach in appreciating seafood.

Futomaki is a type of sushi that is significantly larger and has more ingredients compared to typical sushi rolls.

As for Inari, these tofu pockets of rice are topped with melted cheese.

Pair your favorites with special condiments like togarashi (spice mix), sakura denbu (sweet pink flakes), ponzu (citrus-based dipping sauce) and goma (creamy sesame sauce).

Noodle Station

Craving a comforting bowl of soup? The noodle station offers both chicken and fish broths – to be paired with noodles such as instant noodles, yee mee, yellow noodles and rice vermicelli.

We personally opted for fried fish with fish soup. This dish is simply bursting with savory flavors of the sea! We also added some chili oil for the added kick of spiciness!

Regional Cuisines

Beyond the mouthwatering bounty from the sea, the seafood buffet also covers an array of mainstream dinner fare.

Carving Station: Fish Baked in Salt Crust

Black Pepper Beef Patties

Spring Chicken

Salmon with Pineapple Salsa

Fried Seabass with Cauliflower Sauce

Satay

Steamed Fish

Siakap Tiga Rasa

Dessert & Sweets

Moving on to the desserts section, be prepared to be dazzled by a myriad of delectable desserts!

Remember to save some room in your stomach for some ice cream! Le Scoop ice creams are served every Le Méridien hotel. While the classic vanilla, chocolate and strawberry flavors are always available, Le Méridien Petaling Jaya also includes localized varieties like yam, lime and Teh Tarik. We absolutely love the Teh Tarik ice cream. What a perfect way to end your culinary adventure on a high note!
