There is a nameless wan tan mee stall along Jalan Lembah Permai in Tanjung Bungah. It is located in a house opposite of Sure Win Cafe hawker center. The stall is run by an elderly couple who represent the third generation in this family business. They used to operate in Tanjung Bungah Market & Food Complex.
This is one of the cheapest Wan Tan Mee stalls in Penang, if not the cheapest of all. A plate of Wan Tan Mee (云吞面) only costs RM3.00 per plate! Just add RM1.00 to upgrade to a large portion. The dish comes with 2 pieces of wan tan and some char siew pork (叉烧肉).
Meanwhile, Wan Tan (云吞) is sold at RM0.10 a piece! Even though the dumplings are quite small in size, RM0.10 is an absolute steal! There are soup and fried versions of Wan Tan. I prefer the latter as I like the crispy dough wrapper.
Although the Wan Tan Mee is just mediocre in terms of taste, the unbelievably low price is what attracts all customers to this stall. The couple have kept the price unchanged for many years; I believe they are operating this shop just to pass the time. In fact, they enjoy chatting with every customer who walks in!
