This article is part of my Ramadan 2020 compilation.

Special thanks to Dorsett Grand Subang for extending this food review invitation.

This evening, Dorsett Grand Subang is giving a sneak peek of the upcoming Semarak Iftar. Held at Terazza Brasserie, the festive menu features over 90 dishes in a Ramadan bazaar setting. The buffet dinner will be served every evening from 24 April 2020 to 23 May 2020.

The main highlight of Semarak Iftar is Kambing Golek. Marinated with herbs and spices, the roasted lamb is served with black pepper, barbecue and onion sauce.

Sup Gear Box is rich in flavor, making it appetizing to the last drop. The soup is cooked with goat’s femur; the bone marrow is considered a delicacy!

Malay-style Kway Teow Goreng and Mee Goreng are cooked in large woks. The noodle dishes contain bean sprouts, eggs, fishcakes and garlic chives.

The Goreng-Goreng corner serves tapioca and banana fritters. Also present are assorted crackers like keropok ikan, keropok sayur, kerepek binjai and papadom.

Moving indoors, the buffet line includes hot dishes such as Kari Udang, Sambal Sotong Petai and Ikan Masak Asam Pedas.

Bubur Lambok is a staple during Ramadan. The rice porridge is cooked with stock and spices. Optional toppings are salted eggs, spring onions, fried shallots, fried anchovies and roasted peanuts.

Ulam-ulaman are vegetables such as ulam raja, daun pegaga, jantung pisang and petai. These raw vegetables are typically eaten with pungent condiments like sambal belacan, tempoyak and cincalok. In addition, there are Malay salads such as kerabu mangga, kerabu pucuk ubi and kerabu kaki ayam.

Hailing from Penang, Asam Laksa revolves around the tamarind-infused fish broth. Other ingredients that enhance the flavor are pineapples, cucumber, onions, chili peppers, calamansi, mint leaves and petis udang (shrimp paste).

Moving to desserts, Semarak Iftar presents a modest variety of Malay kuih. Shown here are kuih koci, kuih lapis, kuih talam, kuih cara manis, kuih cara berlauk, pulut inti and onde-onde. Buah kurma (palm dates) are available too.

Cocoa lovers will be pleased to see the chocolate fountain. Alternative desserts that satisfy one’s sweet tooth are fruit jellies, puddings and sweet soups. There is even an ais kacang station to prepare Malaysians’ favorite dessert.

Finally for drinks, diners can quench their thirst with refreshing beverages like sirap bandung, soy milk, iced lemon tea and fruit punch. As for hot drinks, there are teh tarik and kopi Hailam. Espresso-based coffee and tea are provided too.

Dorsett Grand Subang’s Semarak Iftar is priced at RM138.00 net per adult and RM89.00 net per child. To purchase vouchers, simply scan the QR code in the flyer or click here. Customers who purchase by 22 April 2020 enjoy discounted price of RM98.00 net. As for guests who prefer Chinese cuisine, the hotel will be serving 8- and 9-course iftar set meals at The Emperor.
