For the upcoming Ramadan, Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur invites guests to experience the unique culinary adventure of Citra Selera Timur & Barat. The dinner buffet will be served daily from 28 February 2025 to 30 March 2025.

Citra Selera Timur & Barat
“Citra Selera Timur & Barat” translates as “A Timeless Symphony of Flavours”. The theme sets the stage for a culinary journey that blends recipes from around the world, particularly focusing on Middle Eastern fare. The dining area is presented in a lively, bazaar-like atmosphere with individual food stalls featuring a diverse range of cuisines.

Craving Station
Baked Whole Lamb with Spices
The lamb is marinated with spices and cooked to golden perfection. The combination of savory lamb with aromatic spices is mouthwatering indeed. The delightful contrast between the toasty surface and tender interior is also featured prominently.

Slow Roasted Beef Tomahawk
Slow roasting beef at a lower temperature allows the meat to be cooked more evenly without losing too much moisture. The beef is tender and succulent, making it delectable to the last morsel.

Condiments that go well with roasted meats are mushroom gravy, Béarnaise sauce, mustard sauce and black pepper sauce.

Hot Dishes
Hailing from the east cost of Peninsular Malaysia, Nasi Ulam Diraja is bursting with aromatic herbal flavors. The Malay-style rice dish serves as the base for other hot dishes.

As for Lamb Kabsa, basmati rice is flavored by the savoriness of slow-cooked lamb and tantalizing Middle Eastern spices.

Udang Galah Lemak Asam Nenas is a coconut milk-based curry featuring large river prawns. The prawns have springy texture and readily absorb the goodness of the yellow curry. Meanwhile, pineapples introduce a sweet and tangy contrast that balances the rich taste of curry.

Gulai Ayam Siam Terung Pipit is a slow-cooked poultry dish. Chicken and pea-sized aubergines are cooked in creamy curry, which is itself a complex blend of Thai herbs and spices.

Daging Opor Pekan features tender beef slices infused with a blend of local spices. The fragrant aroma of spices is most appetizing.

Ketupat Sotong is a unique dish where squids are stuffed with glutinous rice and cooked in rich coconut gravy. We cannot recommend this dish highly enough!

Ayam Bakar Percik Pantai Timur in a popular dish during Ramadan. The chicken is marinated in coconut milk, and then roasted over burning charcoal. During the cooking process, the chicken is basted with gravy to give it a spicy kick.

Fasolia is a lamb stew which contains green beans, tomatoes and spices. This dish is particularly popular in Syria and Lebanon.

Another favorite of ours is Chicken Adana Kebab, which is seasoned with Turkish spices. The grilled minced chicken has a smoky char that delights the palate.

Dajaj Chicken Salona is an Emirati curry of savory and aromatic flavor profile. Potatoes and carrots are also added into the mix.
