Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara is a luxurious French-style hotel adjacent to Damansara City Mall. Located next to the lobby is Kwee Zeen, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant.

“Kwee Zeen” is a play on the word “cuisine”. The eatery specializes in Asian cooking with an infusion of French cuisine. This aligns with the hotel’s cosmopolitan clientele.

The dining area is spacious and elegant. On the walls, Parisian art adds a touch of sophistication to the restaurant.

7 Flavours of Malaysia
For the upcoming month of Ramadan, Sofitel will be serving “Destinasi Rasa Serantau” buffet dinner every evening. This festive menu highlights the rich culinary diversity of Malaysia by featuring seven special dishes, each representing a different state of the federation.

This year, the buffet menu is curated by Chef De Cuisine of Kwee Zeen, Chef Mizan.

Udang Galah Mask Diraja Pahang by Chef Mizan
Udang Galah Masak Diraja Pahang features udang galah (river prawns) cooked in one of two styles: asam pedas and masak lemak.

The prawns are cooked à la minute, ensuring that they remain sweet and succulent when served.

In addition to udang galah, guests can also opt for prawns, mussels and slipper lobsters.

Kambing Golek Nusantara Selangor by Chef Hadi
The roasted lamb is marinated with a special blend of spices, and then roasted to golden perfection. The lamb is best enjoyed with percik sauce and tzatziki sauce. This delicacy is usually served at Malay weddings.

Nasi Briyani Sunquick Berlauk Johor by Chef Irwan
Chef Irwan presents his rendition of the popular Nasi Briyani. This rice dish is paired with beef shank, another delicacy that is usually reserved for special occasions.

The rice itself is remarkably light and easy on the mouth. A subtle hint of citrus adds a refreshing dimension to the overall taste.

Asam Pedas Ekor Lembu Melaka by Chef Isma
This sumptuous oxtail stew is rich and creamy, tantalizing the taste buds with fiery spiciness.

The gelatinous oxtail, slow-cooked to tenderness, is immensely soothing to the palate.

Ketupat Sotong Gula Aren Kelantan by Chef Shah
In the context of Malay cuisine, Kelantanese fare is generally on the sweeter end of the spectrum. This dish is of no exception. The yellowish gravy is sweetened with “gula aren”, a special type of palm sugar.

Ketupat Sotong Gula Aren Kelantan strikes a delicate balance of textures and flavors. The squid provides satisfying chewiness with a slight crunch, while the soft glutinous rice inside absorbs the distinctive sweetness of the gravy.

Mee Udang Harimau Penang by Chef Syafiq
Do you enjoy Mee Udang? This special stall allows diners to customize the noodle dish with their favorite noodles, seafood and vegetables. The prawn-infused broth is immensely rich and is tasty to the last drop.

Chef Syafiq presents his take on the ever-popular Mee Udang by using large tiger prawns! Other seafood choices are black mussels and green-lipped mussels.

Kerabu Scallop & Oyster Goreng Perak by Chef Sofi
Chef Sofi presents Kerabu Scallop & Oyster Goreng Perak, taking some artistic license on the classic kerabu dish. While scallops and oysters are not usually found in traditional kerabu recipes, this creation is a noteworthy addition to the buffet.

Festive Delights
Beyond the seven delicacies on the “7 Flavours of Malaysia” menu, the iftar buffet also features many popular dishes that people crave for and expect to see during Ramadan.

Each type of kerabu offers a unique combination of flavors and textures that helps to induce appetite.
