Today, we took a short trip to Hoho Farmstay in Ulu Yam Lama and discovered a gem for a unique staycation. Just 45 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur, this charming farmstay offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. With its lush greenery and breathtaking views, Hoho Farmstay is the ideal spot to relax and reconnect with nature.
Organic Farm and Homely Stay
You might know Hoho Fruit & Vege Park and Kebun Cafe, but did you know there’s a cozy farmstay right on the same grounds? We spent the night in a charming red-brick cottage, surrounded by lush greenery and an inviting atmosphere. Hoho Farmstay truly feels like a home away from home.
As we stepped into the house at 3 pm, we were greeted by a vintage-style rattan dining set on the right. The cushioned rattan sofa offered excellent ventilation and heat dissipation, making it incredibly comfortable. Imagine gathering around this table with friends, enjoying a pot of tea and engaging in lively conversations!
On the other side, a game table stood ready for entertainment, along with the entrance to the kitchen.
Well-Equipped and Thoughtful Amenities
The kitchen has everything you need, including a water dispenser with hot, cold, and room temperature options.
Hoho Farmstay thoughtfully provides tea bags, coffee, peanuts, and biscuits for your enjoyment. The kitchen is stocked with the usual tableware, plus food covers, chopping boards, knives, seasonings (sugar, salt, etc.), soy sauce, and cooking oil.
Without further ado, we quickly put the ingredients and food we brought into the fridge.
The simple, earthy clay stove took center stage in the cooking area, reminiscent of Grandma’s kitchen.
The outdoor area features a spacious lake and a gazebo, perfect for relaxing and taking in the beautiful scenery.
Indoor Hotpot and Outdoor BBQ
Staying at Hoho Farmstay with friends means enjoying a hot pot or grill together. The friendly hosts go the extra mile, preparing a delicious 3-hour simmered vegetarian broth using their own organic corn, jicama, and cabbage. It’s so flavorful, you can even enjoy it on its own!
To enhance your stay, Hoho Farmstay provides 5 types of pesticide-free fresh vegetables, picked straight from their garden. They’re incredibly crisp and sweet. Definitely a must-try!
Hoho Farmstay has got a hot pot stove and an induction cooker ready for you at the homestay, so you can start cooking whenever you like!
Additionally, Hoho Farmstay provides a full range of hot pot and barbecue equipment, so you only need to bring your own food—no need to pack anything else!
You’ll find the barbecue area in a charming gazebo by the lake, just behind the house and seamlessly connected to it.
The host provides guests with 2 bags of charcoal and has thoughtfully prepared everything you need, including kindling, matches, and tongs. It’s just like having your own backyard barbecue!
Can you beat grilling with your friends and enjoying a few drinks in a place like this? It’s absolutely perfect!
After your meal, relax in the gazebo and take in the beautiful scenery. As a special treat, we’ve brought along some delicious, in-season durian.
We also brought fishing rods for some fishing fun—just be careful: the lake is deep and dangerous, so please stay away from the water.
Being outdoors and surrounded by nature means mosquitoes might be a concern. The farmstay provides mosquito coils to keep them at bay. Alternatively, you can always retreat to the indoor space for movies, tea, and good conversation.
As the sun sets, it’s time to wind down and rest!
