Today, we have the pleasure of visiting Holiday Inn Sepang, a 4-star hotel within a short drive from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

The hotel is hosting a preview session of the upcoming Warisan Muhibbah Ramadan buffet. The culinary team is led by Executive Chef Shaifful, who is also the curator of this evening’s menu.

The iftar buffet is served at The Garden Cafe, the all-day dining outlet of the hotel. This eatery is also where in-house guests are served breakfast in the morning.

The dining area is decorated with fancy lighting and wooden partitions, creating cozy and inviting atmosphere.

Al fresco dining is also possible at The Garden Cafe. For today, this section is serves as the venue for live action stalls.

The à la carte menu here covers local and international flavors. The restaurant may occasionally serve buffet lunch or dinner whenever there are group bookings.

Roasted Lamb

Our culinary journey begins with Roasted Lamb.

The lamb is marinated for several hours, and then slow-roasted to keep the meat succulent.

Beriani Rice

Beriani Rice is lovely in its own right. Infused with fiery spices, the rice dish is topped with sultanas and cashew nuts. This creates a symphony of flavors and textures that helps to induce appetite.

Enjoy succulent Chicken & Beef Satay with kuah kacang (peanut sauce). Nasi impit (pressed rice), cucumbers and onions are also provided to go with Satay.

Kawah Section

In rural communities, communal dishes are usually cooked in oversized pots called “kawah”. Keeping to this tradition, three signature “kawah” dishes are served today.

Tetel Asam Pedas offers a spicy kick that tantalizes the taste buds. The recipe balances sumptuous beef with tangy notes of tamarind.

Kambing Masak Hitam tickles the palate with a combination of sweet and spicy flavors. The mutton is cooked just right such that it remains tender.

Kari Kepala Jenahak is another prized delicacy. Infused with deep flavors of the curry, the snapper is tasty to the last morsel.

Sup Tulang

Sup Tulang is simmered with knuckle bones for several hours, making the broth immensely savory.

Diced potatoes and carrots serve as counterweight to the savory soup. For improved taste, you can also add in a spoonful of sambal kicap and a squeeze of lime.

Char Kuey Teow

Diners are easily drawn to the Char Kuey Teow section by the mouthwatering aroma emanating from this live action counter.

Char Kuey Teow is stir-fried with cockles, fish cakes and fish balls. The use of chili paste makes this noodle dish even more appetizing.

Kicap cili (spicy soy sauce) and pickled green chili are great condiments to go with Char Kuey Teow.
