Rooftop 25 Bar and Lounge at Hilton Garden Inn Kuala Lumpur unveils its latest Skyline Soirée menu. Perched high above the city, this casual-dining restaurant offers a new menu of light tapas, hearty meals and handcrafted drinks.

Enjoy mesmerizing panoramas of Kuala Lumpur’s skyline from this elevated position. Iconic skyscrapers like Petronas Twin Towers, KL Tower and Merdeka 118 come into view.

While the scenery is idyllic during the day, the view is entirely different post-sunset. Read on to see how the night view looks like!

New Chef • New Menu

Let’s introduce the architects behind the new Skyline Soirées menu. The kitchen chew is helmed by Executive Sous Chef Cha, who brings over 20 years of culinary experience from renowned hotels across the region. Joining him is F&B Manager Steve Ong, who also doubles as the lead mixologist at Rooftop 25.

All Time Favorites Tapas

Let’s kick off with Chef Cha’s new creation, Wonton Nachos. The usual tortilla chips are replaced with crispy wonton skins, as crispy as the former but with a different texture. The platter comes with savory minced chicken, cheddar sauce, jalapeño sauce and sour cream.

Embodying the fusion between East and West is Anchovies & Sausage. The mixture is accompanied by sweet onions, garlic, parsley and bird’s eye chili!

Malaysian Chicken Satay is a classic that locals know and love! Skewers of marinated chicken are served alongside cucumbers, onions, rice cakes and spicy peanut sauce.

Tandoori Chicken Popcorn is another interesting appetizer with a spicy twist. Crispy chunks of chicken are seasoned with tantalizing Indian spices. As for the condiment, mint sauce gives the chicken a breath of cooling freshness.

Rooftop 25 brings Korean street food to the scene with the Chicken Drummet. This irresistible snack is coated with sweet-spicy sauce and sesame seeds. It is literally finger-licking good!

Signature “From The Surf” Tapas

Be sure to try another signature starter: Garlic Prawn. This classic Spanish recipe features succulent prawns sautéed with garlic and olive oil. Chili flakes and parsley are sprinkled on top as garnish. The aroma is absolutely soothing!

Buttermilk Mussel puts a local spin on a Western favorite, where plump black mussels swim in creamy buttermilk sauce. The delectable appetizer is garnished with rocket salad and chili peppers for added flavor.

If you enjoy crispy treats, try the Soft Shell Crab! Coated with crispy batter, the crabs are best enjoyed with dipping sauce and a squeeze of lemon juice.

From The Garden

Should you prefer something light, opt for the Sautéed Mushroom. The button mushrooms present creamy comfort with the help of garlic and herbs, all held together by rich cream sauce.

For a taste of Italian appetizers, go for the Mushroom Bruschetta. Ciabatta bread slices are topped with sautéed shimeji and button mushrooms, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic and olive oil.

Meanwhile, the vibrant Tomato Bruschetta contains a mix of fresh tomatoes, grated Parmesan, basil, garlic and extra virgin olive oil.

Munchies

For easy-to-share bites that go perfectly with beer, Chips and Salsa are an excellent choice. The crispy tortilla chips come with four dipping sauces: tomato salsa, guacamole, sour cream and cheese sauce. Which is your favorite condiment?

HGI Burger

Rooftop 25 offers two burger options, both served with salad and fries. Let’s start with the poultry option, Chicken Burger. The crispy chicken is enhanced by cheddar cheese, gherkins and aromatic butter herb mayo. The combination gives way to smooth, flavorful bites.

Living up to its name, the BIG Burger is loaded with a juicy grilled beef patty, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, fresh tomatoes and pickles. The onions are slow-cooked to perfection, releasing complex flavors onto the beef patty as they caramelize. Smoked pepper sauce makes the burger succulent to the last morsel!

Pasta

There are three pasta choices on the new menu. Leading the way is Alfredo Pasta, a creamy classic where spaghetti is tossed with shimeji and button mushrooms. A generous sprinkle of Parmesan cheese enhances the rich cream that truly defines this dish.

For palates with an affinity to heat, the Chicken Aglio Olio offers a spicy kick of flavors. Al dente pasta is served with grilled chicken, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, garlic, Parmesan cheese, basil, chili flakes and olive oil.

As for the seafood option, Shrimp Marinara delivers irresistible savoriness from the luscious sauce made from fresh tomatoes. The spaghetti and prawns are further enhanced by basil, garlic and a light sprinkle of Parmesan.

Western Main

Moving to the carnivore’s domain, there are three meat dishes on the menu. These mains come with comforting sides of corn and sautéed vegetables. Leading the charge is the Australian Lamb Shoulder. The premium lamb steak is pan-seared and then grilled to perfection. This results in a succulent cut that pairs well with rosemary lamb jus.

Next in line is a poultry dish, the classic Chicken Chop. The chicken thigh is grilled to golden perfection while maintaining its tender texture. Thanks to the lovely spice marinade, the chicken is delectable indeed. Black pepper sauce is served alongside.

Rounding out the mains is Grilled Barramundi, which serves as the light yet flavorful seafood choice. The dish comprises of a generous fillet of seabass with its charred skin intact. The fillet is seasoned with sea salt and herbs, and paired with a lemon dill butter sauce.

Local Main

The new menu covers Asian flavors with two local dishes. The first one is HGI – Nasi Lemak. This Malaysian classic consists of rice infused with coconut milk, fried chicken thigh, sambal sotong (spicy squid sauce), hard-boiled egg, anchovies, peanuts and cucumbers.

Go meatless with the Vegetarian Chicken Makhan, a bold interpretation of the flavorful Indian recipe. Mock chicken is used in place of meat. The platter also includes ghee rice, cucumber raita and masala poppadom. This vegetarian dish is surprisingly appealing and is one of our favorites this evening.

Sweet

Moving on to sweets, the NY Cheesecake entices the tongue with its creamy composition. If you love the sharp taste of fine cheese, this dessert absolutely fits the bill. On the side, tart fruit compote serves as counterpoint to the rich slice of cheesecake.

Sago Gula Melaka is a classic dessert made of sage pearls, sweetened with gula melaka. There is also a scoop of coconut ice cream on top.

Signature Cocktails

What is great food without a great drink to go with it? This is where Steve’s signature cocktails come in. There are three creations that are exclusive available at Rooftop 25: Mystic, Golden Aurora and Sunset Iced Tea.

The Mystic delivers a smooth blend of red wine, vodka, and soda for deep, complex flavors and a highly refreshing twist.
Meanwhile, the vibrant Sunset Iced Tea is designed to capture the evening sky, presenting a fruity mix of spirits with orange and grenadine that truly resembles a rooftop sunset in a glass.

Our favorite this evening is the Golden Aurora, a refreshing cocktail unlike any we ever encountered. The beverage is concocted from rum and coconut water, and then topped with beer for a light fizz. You rarely see a cocktail made with beer, and this one is a winner!
